DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing)-

  • an open-source national platform that provides high-quality, curriculum-linked digital learning materials for K-12 education.
  1. National Stature- Termed as the nation’s "One Nation, One Digital Platform" for school education.
  2. Core Initiative- It operates as a vital component of the PM e-Vidya initiative under the Ministry of Education to ensure online learning continuity.
  3. Nodal Agencies-  it is spearheaded by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in collaboration with the Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET).

2. Architectural Design & Content Strategy

a) Federated Architecture- The platform operates on a decentralized structure, enabling states, UTs, and autonomous boards to independently upload, manage, and customize content according to their regional curricula and pedagogies

b) Rigorous Validation- To maintain quality standards, the CIET-NCERT periodically reviews and validates the uploaded content based on age-appropriate and grade-appropriate guidelines.

c) Content Spectrum- Covers everything from Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) up to senior secondary levels.

3. Key Technological & Inclusive Features

  • DIKSHA leverages technology to bridge educational divides and align with NEP 2020 principles-

a) Phygital Learning (QR Codes)- Employs QR-coded Energised Textbooks that connect physical paper books directly to videos, interactive resources, and teacher guides.

b) Interactive Media- Hosts 2D/3D animations, augmented reality (AR) experiences, simulations, and more than 614 Virtual Laboratories to promote critical thinking.

c) Divyangjan-Friendly (Inclusivity)- Integrates text-to-speech tools, Indian Sign Language (ISL) videos, and the DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) format for differently-abled learners.

d) Adaptive Learning- Provides competency-based question banks, unlimited practice modules, and adaptive assessments to address individual learning gaps.

e) Offline Access- Supports preloading of content onto Smart Class boards by States/UTs, allowing students to download materials in advance and study without active internet.

4. Multilingual Prowess-

a) Language Support- The platform supports an extensive network of 135 languages, consisting of 128 Indian and seven foreign languages.

b) NEP 2020 Alignment- In line with early schooling in the mother tongue, NCERT translates textbooks for classes 1, 2, 3, and 6 into 22 scheduled languages.

5. Teacher Professional Development (TPD)

a) Upskilling Interface- DIKSHA integrates a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver self-paced, certified training modules to teachers nationwide.

b) Key Programs- Drives national teacher training through initiatives like NISHTHA and state-specific TPD modules.

6. Key Statistics & Impact Metrics-

a) User Engagement- 2.25 crore registered users with around 3 lakh daily active users.

b) Usage Scale- Has registered 575.25 crore learning sessions and a massive 6,691.82 crore learning minutes.

c) Content & Assets- Houses 7,687 Energised Textbooks and 3.67 lakh electronic contents.

d) Certification- Tracks 18.77 crore course enrollments and has issued 12.79 crore digital certificatesupon completion.

e) State-Wise Footprint- Uttar Pradesh leads registrations with 26.80 lakh users, followed by Gujarat(14.64 lakh), Bihar (12.52 lakh), and Rajasthan (11.41 lakh).
