Gaganyaan Mission

  • Why in the news? ISRO successfully completed the second Integrated Air-Drop Test (IADT-02) for the Gaganyaan mission.
  • Test Site: Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
  • In this test, a dummy crew module weighing 4.8 tons was dropped from an altitude of 3 kilometers using a Chinook helicopter.
  • After module was released a system consisting of 10 parachutes was deployed.
  • Three uncrewed missions will be launched prior to the final human mission.
  • Budget: Rs.10,000 crore.
  • First Crewed Flight: In the first quarter of 2027.
  • First Successful Test: August 24, 2025, at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
