Pm Kishan Sarthi portal -

  • Kisan Sarathi is India's largest integrated digital agro-advisory platform designed to deliver timely, authentic, and multilingual information to farmers. It operates as a unified digital interface connecting farmers with Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), ICAR institutes, agricultural universities, and government schemes through multiple accessible channels. The platform represents a paradigm shift from conventional agricultural extension systems toward tech-driven, farmer-centric, lab-to-field knowledge dissemination at scale.
  • Nodal Ministries - A joint initiative of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.
  • Implementing Agencies -  The Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute (IASRI) and the Digital India Corporation.
  • Core Goal - To enable structural "lab-to-land" transfer of agricultural knowledge, replacing fragmented advisory channels with a unified interface.

The Technological Backbone - Interactive Information Dissemination System (IIDS).

  • Two-Way Communication- Unlike traditional broadcast models, IIDS facilitates direct, two-way communication between farmers and experts via voice calls, video calls, texts, images, and chat exchanges.
  • Know Your Farmer (KYF) Approach- The system stores the farmer's history, profile, and past query interactions, allowing scientists to provide highly localized and accurate advisories tailored to specific farm conditions.
  • Multilingual Capability- Offers live interactions and push alert messages in 13 regional languages.

Institutional Integration & Digital Footprint

  • Kisan Sarathi acts as a convergence engine by linking farmers directly to premier institutional networks-

01. Connected Institutions- Links farmers with 730+ Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs)100+ ICAR institutes, and 65+ agricultural universities.

02. National Platform Convergence- Integrates key standalone digital platforms onto a single interface- .

  1. Kisan Call Centre
  2. Common Service Centre (CSC)
  3. India Meteorological Department (IMD)
  4. MyScheme
  5. BHASHINI (for language translation assets)

03.Omnichannel Access- . Ensures inclusivity across varying levels of digital literacy through the Mobile App, WhatsApp, Web Portal, CSCs, and Toll-Free Call Centres.

04. Key Benefits to the Agri-Ecosystem

A) For Farmers-

  • Discovery of central and state government schemes (e.g., PM-KISAN tracking). As of June 2026, 610 schemes (102 central, 508 state/UT) are accessible.
  • Real-time access to district-wise mandi prices, market trends, and localized weather forecasts.
  • Comprehensive sector coverage spanning major cereals, pulses, oilseeds, horticulture, livestock, poultry, and fisheries.

B) For Research Institutions & KVKs - Accelerates technology transfer, improves outreach efficiency, and gives scientists immediate field insights.

C) For Policymakers - Provides real-time field data dashboards and data analytics to implement evidence-based policy planning.

05. Current Footprint & Performance Metrics

  1.  Demographic Reach- 2.95 crore registered farmers, which includes a significant subset of 56.16 lakh women beneficiaries.
  2. Geographical Spread- Active across 36/37 States/UTs, 768 districts, and 6.63 lakh villages.
  3. Scientific Network- Supported by a robust network of 4,767 ICAR scientists and 113 ICAR institutes.
  4. Output to Date- The platform has successfully handled 19.21 lakh farmer queries and released 21,900 localized advisories covering 351 distinct commodities.
  5. Registration Vectors- The vast majority of registrations (2.89 crore) happened physically via nearest KVK visits, followed by Kisan Call Centres, WhatsApp/Mobile Apps, and CSCs.
