Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker’s visit to India 

  • Date: 14-17 April, 2026

  • It is the first visit in over 40 years, marking a major boost to India-Austria strategic relations. 

  • List of Outcomes: 

    • Agreement on Audiovisual Co-production between India and Austria.

    • Joint Announcement on setting up a Fast Track Mechanism for Indian and Austrian companies.

      • The Fast Track mechanism will identify and solve problems faced by Indian and Austrian companies and investors in each other’s economies. 

    • Letter of Intent on Cooperation in Military Matters.

      • This LOI will provide a framework for military, industrial, and technological cooperation, advancing the India-EU Defence and Security Partnership of 27 January 2026.

    • Letter of Intent on Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism.

    • MoU on Food Safety between AGES, Austria and FSSAI, India.

    • Joint Letter of Intent regarding dual vocational training, skills development and the recognition of vocational qualifications,

    • MoU between IIT Delhi and Austria’s Montan University: To strengthen cooperation in engineering and technical education. 

  • Announcements:

    • Increased cooperation of startup ecosystems under the India-Austria Startup Bridge.

      • India-Austria Start-up Bridge was launched in 2024.

    • India–Austria Working Holiday Programme: To promote youth exchange.

    • Partnership between India’s Centre for UN Peacekeeping and the Austrian Armed Forces International Centre (AUTINT).

    • Agreement to jointly organise a bilateral space industry seminar in Vienna in Autumn 2026.

    • Focus India initiative of Austria's leading technical Universities to systematically deepen educational cooperation and research cooperation with India.

    • Renewal of the MoU on technical cooperation in the road infrastructure sector.
