1st Khelo India Tribal Games

  • Venue: Held in Raipur, Jagdalpur, and Surguja (Chhattisgarh), March 25 to April 6, 2026

    • India’s first national multi-sport event for tribal athletes.

  • Mascot: ‘Morveer’—a symbol of tribal pride, identity, and valor.

    •  ‘Mor’ signifies ‘our own’ while ‘Veer’ symbolizes bravery and strength.

  • Sports Included :

    • Major Sports (7 medal categories): Athletics, Football, Hockey, Weightlifting, Archery, Swimming, and Wrestling.

    • Demonstration Sports: Mallakhamb and Kabaddi.

  • Objectives: 

    • The Games aim to identify, nurture and promote sporting talent among tribal youth and strengthen grassroots sports under the Khelo India programme. 

    • The Games serve as a platform for talent identification, with a dedicated Talent Identification and Development Committee (TIDC) deployed to scout promising athletes for further training and development under the Khelo India framework.

    • Sports build discipline, confidence and teamwork while also fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose

  • Organisers: The Ministry  of  Youth  Affairs  &  Sports,  Sports  Authority  of  India  (SAI),  Indian  Olympic  Association,  National  Sports  Federations,  and  the  Chhattisgarh Government.

  • Participations: Over 60,000 athletes from 30 states and UTs played for 338 medals in the Games.

  • Outstanding Male Athlete: Manikant L. (Karnataka,swimming)- won 8 gold and 1 silver medal.

  • Outstanding Female Athlete: Anjali Munda (Odisha,swimming)- won 5 gold medals.

Rajasthan’s Performance: 

Under Coach Ajay Sharma, the wrestlers performed well:

    1. Amit Kumar Meena: Silver medal in the 125 kg weight category

    2. Rakesh Kumar Meena: Silver medal (65kg) in wresling.

    3. Dinesh Solanki: Silver medal in the 60 kg category .

    4. Balkesh Kumari Meena: Bronze medal in the Women’s 68kg wresling category.

  1. Jagdish Kumar: Won a bronze medal in the Men's 200-meter athletics event.
