Context:  Bhubneshwar decleration was adopted at the National Workshop on Strengthening Tribal Research Institutes

Date and Venue: 7–8 July 2026 at Bhubaneswar, Odisha

Organiser: Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, in collaboration with the Government of Odisha

key outcome and highlights :

  • Bhubaneswar Declaration: it is a framework adopted  for strengthening Tribal Research Institutes(TRIs) across India.

  • Model TRI Framework 2030 - standards for governance, staffing, research quality, and technology adoption in TRIs.

  • National TRI Research Agenda (2027–2032)-to establish common research priorities. 

  • Result and Ranking Framework via National Tribal Research Portal (NTRP)

  • Preservation of Tribal languages Indigenous knowledge Traditional arts Music Cuisine Cultural  and heritage

  • Promote the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), analytics, and shared technology infrastructure. 

Ministry of Tribal Affairs also presented Certificates of Appreciation to seven best performing Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs):

  1. Tribal Research and Training Institute, Chhattisgarh

  2. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute, Odisha

  3. Tribal Research and Cultural Institute, Tripura

  4. Tribal Research & Training Institute, Maharashtra

  5. Kerala Institute for Research, Training & Development Studies of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (KIRTADS), Kerala

  6. Tribal Cultural Research and Training Institute, Telangana

  7. Dr Ramdayal Munda Tribal Welfare Research Institute, Jharkhand



TRI in RAJASTHAN:

Rajasthan's primary Tribal Research Institute (TRI) is the Manikya Lal Verma Tribal Research and Training Institute (MLV TRTI), located in Ashok Nagar, Udaipur. It was established in 1964.
